Easy Steps To Reducing Toxins In Your Home:
There are over 1000 toxins used to spray your fruits and vegetables to reduce pests, and to prolong their shelf life. Let’s not even mention the ones already in the soil and water that our produce is drinking in that we just don’t even think about
Long-term effects of pesticides consumed through fruits and vegetables can result from continuous or repeated exposure. Some of the long-term effects can result in cancer, congenital disabilities, impaired fertility, respiratory problems, dermatitis, neurotoxic effects, and more.
Taking this simple extra step beyond just running your veggies under water can dissolve common wax coatings, get rid of pesticide residues and reduce bacteria and other pathogens.
Easy Produce Wash:
All you need is:
2 tablespoons of baking soda (make sure it's aluminum free!)
1/2 fresh lemon
Add all your produce to your sink and fill it up with cool water. Add in 2 tablespoons of the baking soda, squeeze the lemon and then toss it in!
If you don't have lemons you can use a food grade lemon essential oil (2 or 3 drops will suffice)
Let them soak for 15 minutes and rinse and dry!
